KidsAfrik – A Business-Like Perspective
KidsAfrik, a non-profit organization, has grown since it began in 2006. The vision is the same but the goals have developed differently. The project seems to be growing rapidly even without proper resources, so we have re-organized to work on more tangible, immediate tasks which will serve the ultimate goal of having the program up and running to its full potential by January 2016.
The final objective will be to provide a self-sustaining Development Center, starting locally and in Senegal, Africa, that has all the characteristics of a thriving community; a safe haven for children to best learn and grow using formal, traditional education, the Arts, Sports, and Technology as life-long tools for success.
Stage 1 (this year) is critical for fund raising, marketing and promotion, including the complete revision of KidsAfrik.com and regular progress updates. In the next two years, we are working hard to create a KidsAfrik after school program in Senegal and a full working after school program here in the Valley.
TASKS AT HAND FOR 2015:
The first accomplishment goal is to establish a KidsAfrik an after-school program both locally and in Senegal.
in the village of Somone, Senegal, we kicked off this porgram with the help of a soccer tournament which took place in March 2010 when we hosted our first weekend-long Annual Youth Soccer Tournament. We took gifts of soccer uniforms and t-shirts generously donated by the Amherst Youth Soccer Association and local supporters. We met with local official authorities to plan the KidsAfrik Sports, Arts and Technology after-school programs scheduled to be fully in place in 2016 with the help of the faculty and students at the University Cheihk Anta Diop, Dakar.
Raising $15,000 to be able to achieve our goal to start the after-school program in Somone, Sengal in 2016.
IN 2017 AND BEYOND:
To create an exchanges program between Senegal and the US avaialble to our Kidsafrik students from the US and Senegal. This will give these young men and women a chance to experience life in Africa/USA and the possibility to share experiences and comment goals. Eventually, these trips to Africa and Europe could be planned for our younger, local KidsAfrik students to give them a personal and cultural experience overseas and a chance to make connections with other communities.
All these activities will serve our ultimate goal: to build KidsAfrik Sport, Art and Technology educational programs in Africa.
Your assistance and support is essential to make this vision a reality.
